Large White Cockchafer have fanlike clubs at the tips of the antennae that look like gills. This nocturnal species seem to appear in mass numbers between March and April in Hong Kong, coming together to breed. On this night we found a pair of mating Large White Cockchafers, two yellow-coloured males are competing over the white-coloured female, the male late to the party (on top) managed to overpower the other male and mated with the female. Having lost the competition, the disappointed male at the back left and went to look for another female.
