Species name: Dinopium benghalense
Interesting fact: Flameback woodpecker uses its tail for support and it hits the trunk upto 100 times/min.
I always see one or two flameback woodpeckers near my home and always try
taking a good picture of them. This day also started similarly! I find these woodpeckers in one particular coconut tree so I exactly knew where to find them. Morning I heard the woodpecker’s call and so I took my camera and went to the terrace to click a picture of it from my eye level. When I was taking pictures of woodpeckers, I saw 1 woodpecker join and then few seconds later I saw 2 more joining. That is when I found out a family of woodpeckers had come. The baby woodpecker always stays in the nest and finally when it mature it comes out so that time the parents also go along and watches it while they eat.
So i was so happy that i could capture a family of flameback woodpeckers. It was a good experiance.
