Dancing in filth
Took this photo of these two male Indian Rat snakes involved in a combat dance for dominance where both are trying to subdue each other by rising above the other in a wetland in Tezpur, Sonitpur, Assam. What do the winner get? The opportunity to mate with a female and dominance over the territory.
Little do they know that they are fighting over a territory which is polluted by plastic. The wetland where they are fighting is key for hunderds of birds and other animals, if not thousands. Recently these precious wetlands or swamps in the city has been polluted by sewage or plastic. They’re further being chocked by encroachment activities. Our impact on the world is devastating. We must mend our ways if we want to save ourselves. Nature was here and will be here, but it will wipe us out like pests if we’re don’t respect it.
