Deadly Beauty
A Saw scaled viper (Echis carinatus) found under a rock while herping at Dapoli, Maharashtra.
It is one of the big four (responsible for majority of the snake bites in India). The other three are- Spectacled cobra (Naja naja), Common krait (Bungarus caeruleus) and Russell’s viper (Daboia russelii).
