White-winged Duck is one of the most endangered birds in the world. Only about 800 survive in the wild, of which about 450 are present in India, Bangladesh and Myanmar. In India, this bird is limited to parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh only. It is also the State Bird of Assam. This elusive bird inhabits small stagnant and slow-flowing freshwater wetlands, often with dead trees, in tropical forest.
Photographed this pair of White-winged Duck at Nameri National Park, Assam, which is one of the best places to see this elusive and endangered bird.
