Eternal love story of tigers and trees!
Tigers and their love for trees is forever. This image is a perfect example to showcase it. The tiger seen in this image is T54, dominant male from Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. We were on our evening drive on the parks opening day after a break of 3 months. The light at that time was perfect. As we neared the area, we could see gypsies aligned and we saw this mighty beast emerge from the green canvas. The whole jungle has come to life thanks to the monsoon rains. He crossed right infront of us and was in the process of marking his scent to warn other tigers of his presence. Tigers have strange ways of communicating with each other and scent marking is one of them. He headed straight to the ghost tree which is one of his favorite trees. He sniffed the tree, gave a hug to leave his scent and finally sprayed on it. This behavior is scent marking.
