An Alpine accentor (Prunella collaris) that we spotted during our trek to Tungnath from Chopta, Uttarakhand.
These are inhabitants of mountainous regions with temperatures ranging even below the freezing point. They survive on a diet of ground dwelling insects in summer and of seeds and berries in winter.
