Panther claw mark!
After over 3 years of visiting Kabini, this was my first sighting of the black panther!
The fact that this is probably one of the only images of a wild panther claw marking makes it worth the wait!
This behaviour isn’t very common, they do this in order to keep their claws sharp so that hunting and tearing skin and meat off of their prey will be an easy task. Scratching the trees also keeps the claws clean and free from infection.
