Pygmy hog – The critically endangered species
The littlest member of the pig family, the pygmy hog (porcula salvania), is a critically endangered species. As the population is assessed at less than 250 mature individuals, it is recorded as Endangered on the IUCN Red List. Endemic to India, they are confined to very few locations around Manas National Park in north-western Assam. During my photography trip to Manas National Park, Assam, I found this species for a little while, therefore, I was able to take only one photograph of this rare species.
