Sad State of Affairs for migratory waders !!
Photographed a small flock of Little Stints who migrate from the Arctic to the tip of India covering a distance of about 11,000 kilometres at the Arnala Beach, Virar.
These small migratory waders spend their winters at these beaches, however we have observed the beach has been rapidly degraded and marred by presence of plastic wastes , discarded packed foods wrappers, and covers.
These waders find it difficult to feed as the presence of plastic and other human discarded wastes decreases the marine activity thereby impacting the food which these stints feed upon. Maintaining the beaches around us is of prime importance to see this migratory wader population , else it would have a significant impact.
