Western hoolock gibbon is the only ape species that is found in India. Their primary food is fruits, leaves, flowers and insects. They spend their lives in the branches of trees. Their population is rapidly decreasing. Now their survival is dependent on the human activities. The majority of western hoolock gibbons are found in Assam. This image was captured in the Hoollongapar gibbon wildlife sanctuary of Assam.
