The unforgiving temperature of -35°C enticed me greatly. Generally drone batteries have endurance of 29 mins of life in tropical zones but the Himalya’s frigid conditions sucked the charge out of it. With an opportunity of charging the batteries for just 2 hours in a day, I had to be very savvy with choosing my shoot spots and idea of maneuvering. I had to charge my DC battery with the solar charger and use the reserves for the night.
I ventured more into the Karakoram range in search of Snow Leopards. I saw the foot trails near Chang La and rolled off my drone searching in every crevice and fjords for a well camouflaged animal on the tiny display of my mobile phone. I ended up draining 2 batteries very early in the morning and just had another 3 as my reserve. It was 15 past 8 in the morning and light from the Sun was shining bright for the day to begin. Even though my quest for video’ing a snow leapord never came true, I happened to witness these beautiful yaks on a candid parade!
