World Mosquito Day

© Harshith JV

Recently there were posts from other photographers for days titled like World Tiger Day, World Elephant Day, World Photography day, etc. I did not have any special photos for such special day. Instead I have photo for today’s speciality: Mosquitoes. 😛

Thanks to ID help by Dr. Krishna Mohan, who is a surgeon by profession. 🙂

This was in my home garden last month at Mangalore. After I showed the pictures, my mother was like why did you let them live? Could have killed them after photography, no? 😛

Last month was also when dengue epidemic created panic in the Dakshina Kannada district with few deaths. Only after identification I came to read about the species that it could be possible disease vector for Dengue disease. But no report of anyone affected by disease as far as I know in the neighborhood.

Scientific name: Aedes cf. scutellaris
Disease vector: Dengue (possibility speculated)
Gender: Female on top and male on bottom
Date: July 08, 2019
